MICRONEEDLING
The Treatment

What Is a Derma Roller?

A derma roller is a small handheld device — a cylinder covered in fine needles, normally varying from a few millimeters in length — that is rolled over the skin to create thousands of controlled micro-channels.

Before the procedure, a topical anesthetic cream is applied to numb the area. After cleansing, the derma roller is gently rolled across the treatment area.

Immediately after, a revitalizing serum or PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) may be applied over the skin as advised by the dermatologist.

The treated area may appear red for a day or two depending on needle depth. The procedure supports the skin's natural collagen production and can progressively improve texture, tone, and firmness.

Two Devices, One Goal

Derma Roller vs. Dermapen

Both devices use the same core microneedling principle. The right option depends on your skin type, treatment area, and individual concern.

🌀

Derma Roller

Manual microneedling device

A cylindrical roller studded with fine needles that is manually rolled across the skin.

It can be used for larger treatment areas such as the cheeks, forehead, scalp, and body, depending on the treatment plan.

The procedure creates controlled microchannels that support the body's natural skin-repair response.

Dermapen

Automated microneedling device

The Dermapen is an automated, motorised device with physician-controlled needle depth.

The needles move vertically into the skin, allowing controlled and consistent treatment across the selected area.

It can be useful for sensitive areas, uneven surfaces, and areas that require precise treatment.

Treatment time and recovery vary according to the area treated and the treatment intensity selected by the dermatologist.

A topical anaesthetic may be applied before the procedure to improve comfort. The treatment time depends on the size of the area being treated.

Depending on the treatment goal, Dr. Jha may recommend PRP, mesotherapy, or other evidence-based treatments alongside microneedling.
